The Prayer Furnace was established in the spring of 2002. It started out under the name City IHOP. The name was officially changed to The Prayer Furnace and Furnace Missions Base in the fall of 2002. We also started our first internship during that Fall, with 7 interns that served for nine months. We were meeting in a designated prayer room at River Community Church on 2942 N. Western Ave. That fall we began looking for a new building to serve as a neutral location for the Prayer Furnace, to launch it more citywide. In January 2003, we officially opened to the city in our new and current location at 3541 N. Elston, a storefront that used to be a machine/tool-dye shop. We had an Grand Opening weekend in February and have been going since that time. Our hearts desire is to see the Prayer Furnace open 24/7. By God's grace we will see night and day worship and intercession go forth from this place.
